Data and Art

It's been a while since I posted anything, so I thought I would try to get back in the habit of it. This weekend was the opening of the Data and Art show my friend and colleague Dan Goods curated along with David Delgado at the Pasadena Museum of California Art. Among the collection are several pieces from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, including the above first image of Mars (which is actually hand colored strips of teletype output). There are also several pieces by Aaron Koblin, including a LIDAR scanning visualization from his work at CENS. It's all definitely worth checking out.

Wrapping up the LAFM project with Electroland downtown in the fashion district. Soon I'll have some video to post, and hopefully there will be some sort of opening when the building reaches completion (though they'll most likely wait until there's tenants).

I've got a project in the works, but I'm contemplating the ethical implications of its release. Though, any project that makes one question their ethics has to be a good one. I'd also like to expand it into an iPhone application, since it's geolocative in nature and would be a suitable platform for content creation and consumption.
